I have just finished writing a children’s book about the things we make with plants, published by Magic Cat (Independent Publisher of the Year) in September 2025.
The Stuff that Stuff is Made Of (The Things we Make with Plants) is about 30 lovely and special plant species, how they grow, why they matter, the things we make, or have made, with them and how those things are made.
It’s a mix of history, culture, folklore and modern engineering and science, and all gloriously illustrated. Very international. Lots of botany of course, and some important environmental and social messages woven in – but I hope in an entertaining rather than in a hair-shirted manner.
I’ve lucked out again with the publisher, this time with Magic Cat They’ve done a gorgeous job.
